First Quarter Book Recommendation 2022

Four times a year, at the end of each quarter, I consider all the books I've read over those three months and offer my recommendation for one book I would suggest you try.
Not merely sticking to my favourite, but more in terms of which I would consider a good all-rounder for a broader audience.

In the first quarter of 2022, I read 7 books.

From those books here is my pick of the bunch.
Recursion by Blake Crouch.

“Good idea
with major flaws”

With five of the seven books reviewed in the first three months of this year receiving a four-star rating, you may be surprised I chose probably the most flawed of the collection.

Recursion definitely held some major gripes for me, as you can read in my review, but it is still a very intelligent and hugely enjoyable book. The premise is incredibly interesting and addicting and Crouch delivers, most of it, very well.

My reasoning behind suggesting this as a recommendation to a broad audience, considering my misgivings about it, is that I feel my personal tastes and opinions may be the sole reason for my frustrations with it. And so, putting that aside, I think Recursion could be a winner for a lot of people who possibly don’t have my hangups.

Recursion by Blake Crouch may be flawed, but is very much still worth reading.
